KOLLAM:
A comprehensive scheme to make available green forage round the year for dairy farmers at an affordable price is on the anvil, Minister for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry J. Chinchurani said today.
The Minister was speaking at a function held at Pathanapuram to mark the district-level inauguration of various welfare schemes unveiled recently by the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) of Milma. Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar presided over the function held at the Block Panchayat Hall at Pathanapuram.
The Minister also gave away the benefit under the summer heat stress insurance cover for milch cattle of farmers affiliated to milk cooperative societies in the district. Other welfare measures launched by TRCMPU for the current financial year include ‘Ksheera Sumangali’, ‘Ksheera Soubhagya’ and ‘Santhwana Sparsham’.
TRCMPU Chairman Mani Viswanadh; Directors Vasudevan Unni PG, K R Mohanan Pillai, T Gopalakrishna Pillai and J Meher; Pathanapuram Block Panchayat President Anandavalli; TRCMPU Managing Director Dr Muraly P; Dairy Development Department Deputy Director Mahesh Narayanan and Kollam Dairy Manager Gee George Puthanveettil were present.
Under ‘Ksheera Sumangali’ scheme, financial aid will be provided for the marriage of daughters of dairy farmers of TRCMPU. ‘Ksheera Soubhagya’ is a deposit scheme of Rs 10,000 for newly-born daughters of dairy farmers while ‘Santhwana Sparsham’ is aimed at extending financial aid to farmers suffering from critical illness and for organ transplantation.
