THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Country’s largest bank State Bank of India today launched its second edition of annual flagship programme ‘SBI Green Marathon’ to promote sustainability.
S. Venkataraman, CGM, Thiruvananthapuram Circle, SBI flagged off the event that witnessed nearly 2000 enthusiastic runners in Thiruvananthapuram. Bobby Aloysius, Olympioan & Dhyan Chand Award Winner along with Cyril C Valloor, Arjuna Award Winner & Former Indian Volleyball team captain also graced the event. The Sunday morning in the Shanghumukham Beach observed participants from across the city running 5, 10, 21 Kms marathon, pledging for a greener future.
Senior officials of the bank also contributed to the “Run for Green” theme and ran the marathon along with other participants. All the runners were given organic t-shirts to promote clean and green city and their bibs consisted of seeds for tree plantation post Marathon. SBI in the next 4 months is also rolling out its green marathon in Guwahati, Bhopal, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Patna and Jaipur with five marathon events recently got concluded in New Delhi Lucknow, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
SBI General Insurance is the health partner for SBI Green Marathon whereas SBI Life, SBI Mutual Funds and SBI Card are also significantly contributing to this zero waste event.
