Samsung ended 2017 on a strong note, emerging as India’s number 1 smartphone company for the seventh straight year. According to GfK, Samsung had 42% value market share and over 37% volume market share in 2017 calendar year. It is important to note that Samsung’s numbers are certified by GfK, which tracks retail sales to end consumers.

Asim Warsi, Senior Vice President, Samsung India, said. Samsung is India’s biggest smartphone maker in 2017, Counterpoint and Canalys Research agencies also said. It is noteworthy that Samsung has maintained its leadership in Indian market despite an onslaught from cheaper Chinese brands that made inroads in India through online sales.
The company has launched several ‘Make for India’ innovations that have won consumers hearts. No wonder, every third smartphone sold in India is a Galaxy J. Even in terms of revenue, Samsung ended 2017 on a record note. Samsung recorded 27% revenue growth in its mobile business during 2016-17 financial year.
Samsung has the biggest reach in India – both in terms of retail outlets and service points. Samsung has over 1.5 lakh retail touchpoints and over 3,000 service centres. There are also 535 service vans that touch every nook and corner of Indian.
