The eventful Popular Rally 2017 bounced back with a bang and the event concluded on Sunday evening at the Marine Drive.
The duo of Younis Ilyas as Driver and Ajas Rahim as Co-Driver from Asten Realtors emerged as the Overall Champion of Popular Rally. The same duo were not only rated as the Star of Kerala, but they also came First in the INRC 3 category.
In the Open Category Arjun Aroor Rao and Kumar Ramaswamy of A R Racing came first, while in the FMSCI Cup category Jacob K J and Royce Kizhakoodan emerged the Winners. The Esteem Cup
category was won by Vijil Vijayan and Sob George. In the Gypsy Cup category Prem Kumar and Anand Manjooran were the winners.
The fastest novice was Amal Poulose and Lijin Mathai. The trophies for the winners were given away by K. Laljy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ernakulam; Viswa Sundar, Regional Manager – South India, Mobil as well as the Directors of Popular Vehicles & Services. The Rally was organised by Southern Adventures and Motorsports.
Earlier in the day, the special stages of the Rally were held at the Kalady alayattoor Plantations. The two-day Popular Rally Fest, held at Marine Drive in connection with the Rally also drew huge crowds with live music bands being the major crowd puller.
Battle of the Bands, a band competition, saw 16 participants fighting it out and Noodlez band came first winning Rs.30000 in cash and a free session at Blue Timbre Music, Bangalore.
Copper Planet came second winning Rs.20000 and 1000 CC came third winning Rs.10000. Thakara a leading music band from Bangalore had their exclusive performance at the venue with music buffs raving for them. A Treasure Hunt organised for Brezza customers also saw its photo finish at the Marine Drive.
The two day event with stalls from all major auto dealers in the City, automobile departments from engineering colleges, food courts etc also drew attention of Kochiites. John K. Paul, MD, Popular Vehicles and Services said, that the event will be an yearly affair from now on with more surprises and
challenges.
