The Supreme Court warned the Army Friday that it would hold them guilty of contempt for denying permanent commissions (PCs) to female officers in compliance with its order. Friday’s Supreme Court warning the Army to not grant permanent commission (PC), as required by its order, warned it.The Army said the decision regarding the remaining women officers will be taken speedily.According to the Army, the Army will quickly decide about the other women officers.

As the bench, also comprising Justice A.S.Bopanna, started dictating the order in the matter, the counsel representing the Army told the court it was ready to grant PC to 11 officers who had moved the top court.The bench also included Justice A.S.Bopanna and began dictating the case.However, counsel for the Army informed the court that it was willing to grant PC to eleven officers who moved the highest court.When Justice A.S.Bopanna joined the bench to dictate the order, the Army counsel told the court they were ready to grant PCs to the 11 top-ranking officers.
The bench noted that the Army may be supreme in its authority, but the constitutional court is also supreme.It was noted by the bench that while the Army might be the supreme authority in the area of its power, the Constitution Court is equally supreme.
While the Army is supreme in its authority and power, the constitution court is supreme as well.
The bench said, “We have given you a long rope….

Out of 72 officers, one had applied for premature release, 39 have been granted PC and a letter has been issued on October 29, 2021 in compliance with its verdict.One of the 72 officers had requested premature release.39 were granted PC.A letter was issued October 29th, 2021 to confirm its verdict.Only one of 72 officers applied for pre-release, while 39 received PC.In accordance with the verdict, a letter was sent on October 29, 2021.

The bench replied to the counsel and said that except for the officers who were found medically unfit, the rest 11 officers would be issued PC.Responding to counsel, the bench stated that the 11 remaining officers will be given PCs, with the exception of the medically incompetent officers.Counsel asked the bench to respond and it stated that, except for those officers found unfit medically, 11 other officers would receive PC.
The bench scheduled the matter for further hearing at 2 p.m.The court scheduled further hearing for 2 p.m.At 2 p.m., the bench ordered that the matter be heard again.
On October 22, the Centre told the apex court that it had cleared 39 women officers found eligible, after reconsideration, but rejected pleas of 25 others.
