  • Over 1.55 Cr Register for 3rd Phase of Vaccination on Day 1

By NE Reporter on April 29, 2021

    NEW DELHI:
Over 1.55 crore people have registered themselves on the first day of registration on CoWin portal for the third phase of Covid vaccination starting May 1.

In the third phase of Covid vaccination, everyone above the age of 18 will be eligible to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

As per the CoWin dash board, over 23 lakh people registered for the third phase of vaccination on Thursday.

Around 10.30 am, 23,82,756 people have registered themselves for the Covid vaccination on Thursday. On Wednesday, registration for the third phase inoculation started at 4 pm and in eight hours till midnight more than one crore people got themselves registered for vaccination.

R.S. Sharma, CEO, National Health Authority, tweeted: “We closed the day with 1.33 crore registrations on Co-Win and delivered 2.78 crore SMSes.”

Till now, over 1.55 crore people have registered since the registration process started on Wednesday evening. As the registration process started, people complained about glitches which were denied by the Union Health Ministry.

“Co-WIN digital platform continues to work without any technical glitch on the first day of registration of the expanded eligible population groups,” Union Health Ministry had said in a statement.

But at 4.35 pm, Aarogya Setu, government mobile application for contact tracing and dissemination of medical advisories to contain the spread of Covid, tweeted, “Cowin Portal is working. There was a minor glitch at 4 PM that was fixed. 18 plus can register.”

The government had claimed that the Co-WIN software is a robust, dependable and agile technology and it offers anytime anywhere registration for Covid vaccination.

“The capacity of the servers and other parameters have been ramped up to match the unprecedented scale of immunization so that the CoWIN system provide citizen-centric services. Inclusivity, speed and scalability have been kept in mind while designing the unique digital platform with all components being portable, synchronous without excessive and unnecessary dependencies,” the Ministry said.
