New Delhi: Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha said one out of eight men and one out of nine women in India have the possibility of developing cancer in their lifetime (0-74 years).
The minister gave this reply based on the report prepared by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
Earlier, the ICMR had released alarming figures about the incidence of cancer in the country. The premier reserach agaency has said that by 2020, India is likely to have more than 17.3 lakh new cancer cases and over 8.8 lakh deaths caused by it.
