GURUGRAM:
Setting another benchmark in customer service amid the most challenging times for aviation across the world, SpiceJet, in an industry first initiative, today announced that its passengers can now book cabs on the airline’s in-flight entertainment platform, SpiceScreen, while being on-board the flight, mid-air. Offering seamless last-mile connectivity, the service will allow passengers to book airport transfers mid-air to avoid any waiting for their transport, post-arrival at the cab transfer area.
To elevate the entire experience a notch above, SpiceJet will also offer special discounted fares exclusively on booking cabs through SpiceScreen platform. In case, the passenger is unable to board the cab for any reason, no cancellation charges will be levied.
In addition, the service aims to make last mile connectivity all the more easier. Flyers will not have to carry their heavy luggage to the cab departure area as they will now be available right outside the arrival gate ensuring a hassle-free travel experience.
Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said, “With the launch of our industry-first SpiceScreen mid-air airport transfer service, we aim to elevate customer experience to the next level by setting a new benchmark of unparalleled convenience. When we launched SpiceScreen in August last year, we had promised to add more on-board services for our customers. With our latest offering, passengers will no longer have to carry their luggage to the cab departure area besides enjoying zero waiting time as cabs will now be available for them right outside the arrival gate.”
In the first phase, SpiceJet will be offering the new service to all flyers arriving at the Delhi airport starting 12th August, 2021. The airline will further extend the service at all major airports including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Pune in a phased-manner.
Once a passenger books a cab on SpiceScreen, they will get the cab booking OTP message via SMS, WhatsApp and automated in-bound call confirmation on their mobile phone on arrival. It will also allow customers the flexibility to pay via any payment options (online or cash) at the end of the journey.
SpiceJet launched ‘SpiceScreen’, a complimentary in-flight entertainment system offering passengers seamless access to a wide range of indulging content on the go in August last year. Unlike traditional in-flight entertainment systems, flyers can easily access SpiceScreen on any of their hand-held devices – a smartphone, tablet or a laptop by simply connecting to the on-board wireless network.
SpiceScreen was developed indigenously by SpiceJet’s team along with a local start-up. The team used Android phones weighing around 200 grams each which performed the dual role of Wi-Fi servers and content hub. This innovation helped the airline to do away with costly and bulky equipment.
