No Horn Day: MG Road has been Declared as Horn Free Zone

As part of the No Horn Day ceremony of the year, A.P.M Muhammad Haneesh, managing director of KMRL, has officially declared the area from Seemati to Maharajas Metro Station of MG Road as the first No Horn Area in Kerala.
A.P.M Muhammad Haneesh said that Kochi is a city where the people are exposed to high noise pollution from 6 AM to 11 PM and constructive initiatives like this have to be well received by the public. It was under the leadership of Indian Medical Association (IMA), National Initiative for Safe Sound (NISS), Association of Otolaryngologists of India (AOI), Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly, Motor vehicles department, Kochi city Police and Kochi Metro the No Horn Day ceremony got coordinated at Kochi.
R. Karuppusamy, Kochi city police deputy commissioner, presided over the ceremony. According to him, there should be a change in the mindset of the public regarding the prevention of noise pollution and they should themselves develop a habit of avoiding unnecessary blowing of the horns. Reji P Varghese, RTO Ernakulum, delivered the keynote address.
The short film made by Kerala media academy and IMA together for creating awareness regarding the concern was released at the occasion. M.A.Nazeer, Kochi City traffic assistant commissioner, Dr. V.D Pradeep Kumar, no horn day program convener, Dr. M. Narayanan, Co- convener, Prof. Radha Thavanoor, director of SCMS, Dr.Varghese Cheriyan, IMA president, DR. M.M Haneesh, Secretary, Dr. Jyothi O Kumari, president, AOI, and M.B. Sathyan, President, private bus operators association, delivered speech.
