THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The Department of Neurodevelopmental Sciences at the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) in association with Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) has planned an experts’ panel discussion on “Autism and School Education” to mark the World Autism Awareness Day, which is being observed on April 2nd.
The event, which will bring together professionals, educators and parents, will be held at Marigold Auditorium, Akkulam in the city, at 9.30am on March 24. Filmmaker Shyamaprasad will be the chief guest at the event.
The panel discussion will explore the challenges, available support systems and accommodations needed for children with Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their parents for a fruitful school learning experience. Discussion will cover related themes including Awareness, Resource Mobilisation, School Setting, Classroom Accommodation, Challenges in School and Family Quality of Life. There will be three stalls related to Oral sensory difficulties, Assistive technology and Autism resources at the venue.
