THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) will be conducting an online seminar on Interactive Disability Awareness (NIDAS)at its campus here on February 17,in collaboration with the state Directorate of Social Justice.
The two-and-a-half-hour long programme in Malayalam aims at reaching out to a large number of parents and caregivers, who are not aware of the implications of disability. It starts at 10.30 am and ends by 01.00 pm.
M.S.Kumari Indira, Clinical Psychologist, Consultant, Child Development Centre, Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram will lead this first-of-its-kind seminar, focusing on the topic “How to help parents of children with Intellectual Disability?” The event can be watched via Internet in all District Child Protection Units (DCPU) by the audience assembled there.
Those who wish to participate from DCPU offices in each district may contact the Child Protection Units Officer nearest to them and avail the telephonic registration process.
