KOCHI:
Namboothiris, a traditional food products company in Kerala, is all set to touch a 100 Crore turnover by the end of this financial year as a result of a well-calibrated business innovation.
By the beginning of the Onam season, the company will have a range of more than fifty products in its food product segment, said Namboothiris Managing Director Neelakantan Nambeesan and Director Rajeev G Kaimal in a press
Started in 1960, Namboothiris was the first food products company in the state to introduce packed pickles commercially. The company has been acquired recently by the famed Nambeesans Group headed by Neelakantan Nambeesan, which in fact, has become a turning point. Muraleedharan Namboothiri, who was the Managing Director of the Namboothiris earlier, will continue to be in the new leadership, in charge of the production side, which according to the new management, will ensure the quality of the products as well as the traditional flavour and taste. ‘It was just to reflect the traditional taste and flavour of the products that we have chosen Suresh Gopi who is loved and respected by all the Malayalees in the state,’ said Rajeev G Kaimal.
Namboothiris has ambitious plans to introduce more than seventy products in ten various segments this year itself. The company has entered into an agreement with the Chennai-based PayAgri Innovation – An Agro Fin Tech company (Incubatee of TamilNadu Agri University) for the procurement of pesticide-free products directly from more than 60000 farmers in Tamilnadu.
The new concept of ‘Pickle in Ceramic Jars’ has already been launched by Aswathy Thirunal Lakshmi Bai of the Travancore Palace. The new management has set up big plans to scale up the business to the national level and expand its exports so as to touch a 500 Cr turnover by the end of next financial year, said Neelakantan Nambeesan.
