KOCHI:
The Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) has yet again won the Union government’s Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar for the best in-house implementation of Hindi as the official language.
At a function in Delhi last month, Home Minister Amit Shah gave away the 2018-19 award to K S Srinivas, chairman of the Kochi-headquartered MPEDA which is a statutory body under the Union Government’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry. Last year too, the MPEDA had bagged the top prize of this award given to the country’s departmental establishments and central public-sector undertakings.
Tasked with coordinating with different central and state government establishments engaged in fishery production and allied activities, the 1972-founded MPEDA works for increasing the exports of fisheries, specifying their standards, processing, marketing, extension and training in various aspects of the industry.
