  • Modi Launches Twitter Campaign on CAA; BJP Tweets Support

By NE Reporter on December 30, 2019

    NEW DELHI:
In order to garner people”s support on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a Twitter campaign.

He wrote on @narendramodi_in: “#IndiaSupportsCAA because CAA is about giving citizenship to persecuted refugees & not about taking anyone”s citizenship away. Check out this hashtag in Your Voice section of Volunteer module on NaMo App for content, graphics, videos & more. Share & show your support for CAA.”

The post got 1.3K retweets and 2.7K likes while #IndiaSupportsCAA trended on Twitter with 386K Tweets.

BJP leader Meenakashi Lekhi tweeted: “Don”t let the power of reason cloud the mind or allow the thinking be hijacked by cruel fanatics. Proud to be an Indian and have a heart to support who continue to suffer in modern times barbarity of Ghazanis, Bukshikans like iconoclasts. #IndiaSupportsCAA.”

The office Twitter handle of Union minister Anurag Thakur @Anurag_Office tweeted: “Myth buster. Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. #IndiaSupportsCAA. Read this and clear your doubts.”

Himachal Chief Minister Jairam Thakur wrote on @jairamthakurbjp: “There are a lot of rumours and falsity being spread that Indian Muslims will squander their citizenship and the public property being vandalised, it”s time to read the act conscientiously and have a civilised discussion.”

BJP”s IT cell head, Amit Malviya wrote: “”Those worried about where these persecuted refugees would be accommodated, should first make rooms in their hearts!” says this youngster who himself belongs to a Multani migrant family.” He also posted a video clip of the youngster with the tweet.

Union minister Smriti Irani retweeted a post from Malviya in which a black-and-white clip of refugees from Bangladesh was tagged.

It read: “You will be shocked to hear the travails of those who fled East Pakistan and are now settled in Bihar”s Motihari district. Those opposing the CAA are enemies of humanity. #IndiaSupportsCAA.”

A tweet by BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav read: “Spread facts, not myth. The #CAA does not target any religious community from abroad. #IndiaSupportsCAA.”
