

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
In a special gesture on the National Milk Day, the Thiruvananthapuram Co-operative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) of Milma today reached out to the children of Child Care Centres (CCCs) in four southern districts by treating them with an assortment of Milma’s sweets.
Minister for Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development J Chinchurani inaugurated the programme of free distribution of sweets at the Government Children’s Home for Boys, Poojapura, here. The Minister also flagged off the sweets delivery vehicle.
Interacting with the children on the occasion, Smt Chinchurani said the government is committed to provide all support to their learning and personality development. The children should properly utilise the facilities and focus on their learning and allied activities with dedication and a sense of direction.
Chinchurani said Milma, one of the most popular brands of Kerala, has plans to come out with more value-added products.
TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convenor, N Bhasurangan said the programme was organised as part of the National Milk Day, which coincides with the birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien, the Milkman of India. This programme was also aimed at introducing to children the high quality products of Milma, he said.
Around 230 children of nine institutions under the Social Justice Department in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts received the sweets kit comprising peda, mango juice, chocolate and flavoured milk.
TRCMPU Administrative Committee Member K R Mohanan Pillai welcomed the gathering and MD DS Konda proposed a vote of thanks. Children’s Home Programme Manager Venu and Private Secretary to the Minister Anil Gopinath were also present.
