As part of the International Nurses Day, which falls on Tuesday, May 12, the nursing staff of the Kollam-based Meditrina Hospital today distributed masks and hand sanitizers to police officers and media persons in the city.
The gesture was organised as the nursing community’s initiativeto recognise and help policepersonnel and mediapersons, who are the other two sections of the nation’s work force, apart from healthcare workers, that work 24×7 to bring about a change in society, said Dr N Prathap Kumar, Chairman, Meditrina Hospital.
Masks and hand sanitizers were distributed among police personnel at the Kollam Police Commissioner’s Office, Kilikollur police station, and Eravipuram police station. Masks and hand sanitizers for the media persons were distributed at the Kollam Press Club.
At the Kollam Police Commissioner’s Office, the nursing staff and other officials from Meditrina Hospital handed over the masks and hand sanitizers to Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Kumar, while at the Kilikollur police station, they were given to Circle Inspector Biju C R. At Eravipuram police station, they were handed over to Circle Inspector Vinod Kumar. At the Kollam Press Club, the masks and hand sanitizers were handed over to Press Club Secretary Biju and President Ajith Sreenivas.
Nursing Superintendent Gomathykutty Amma, Infection Control nurse Sareesh, Quality division nurse Bincy, Director of Administration Prince, Operations Manager Sunil Kumar, PRO Anumon Sunil and other members of the nursing staff at Meditrina Hospital were part of the team that visited the police stations and press club to hand over the masks and sanitizers. Besides, around 25 members of the nursing staff donated blood at the hospital as part of the Nurses’ Day.
