KOCHI:
Technorip Innovations, a hardware startup incubated at Maker Village, has had a rare chance to interact with technology experts from around the world after being selected for a prestigious programme organised by the US Department of State for emerging entrepreneurs in South Asia.
Technorip, which specializes in embedded and hardware systems, web/ mobile development, cloud intelligence and Internet of Things, was among 50 participants from India, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives at TechCamp 2017, a two-day intensive workshop held in Chennai last week in partnership with Global India Fund and Samhita Social Ventures.
“The participants were selected after a rigorous short-listing process which began in April. Arun P.M., the CEO of Technorip Innovations, was one among 10 startup entrepreneurs chosen from India,” said Rohan Kalani, Director-Operations, Maker Village.
Terming the workshop “an incredible opportunity” to meet and interact with other social innovators from across South Asia, Arun said he received important inputs from the experts to build his company further.
“As many as ten industry experts from India and US spoke during the workshop. Their insights would be of great help in scaling our company’s business and resolving other practical issues related to a startup,” said Arun.
TechCamp 2017 was aimed at connecting technology experts from across the globe with budding entrepreneurs to ideate on how technology can be used to solve the most pressing social concerns in South Asia.
“The US Department of State has also announced a grant for the participants who develop a practical, technology-based solution to challenges faced in South East Asia. The Maker Village incubator intends to help startups receiving such grants in developing a product that is market ready through the facilities here,” said Prasad Balakrishnan, CEO, Maker Village.
