  • Lemon Tree Hotels Launches Sustainability Film

By NE Reporter on February 27, 2020

    MUMBAI:
Lemon Tree believes that the brand should stand for more than ‘just profit’. We have focused our efforts on creating a socially inclusive work environment which seeks to bring in people of different backgrounds, abilities and ethnicities and offer them work as a unified team with a common goal.

We believe that persons with disabilities must be provided the same opportunities as others to realize their full potential and live with dignity. By creating a supportive environment in the organization we allow them to deliver their best. In this way we are able to play a part, however small, in social inclusiveness, opportunity/livelihood creation and therefore nation building.

Over the years, Lemon Tree Hotels has hired and trained over 3,000 people from the most marginalized sections of Indian society including disability i.e. Speech & Hearing Impaired, Physical Disability, Down Syndrome, Slow Learner, Intellectual & Developmental Disability, Autism, Acid Survivor as well as orphan/abandoned girl, school dropout and transgender. Currently around 20% of the employee base is from these marginalized segments, and the target is to take this to 30-40% by 2025. Also, we help
preserve traditional art and indigenous cultures by supporting Bastar art.

In an effort to reduce the carbon footprint, we use renewable energy, recycle and reuse water in many different ways and run our hotels by adopting the principles of reduce, recycle and reuse. Many of our hotels are designed and constructed to qualify for the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (L.E.E.D.) Gold Standard and we continue to design new hotels to these standards. The aim is to design buildings for energy savings, efficient use of water, reduction of CO2 emission and overall improvement in environmental quality.

It has been our aim to change lives and impact the community, the environment, our employees, our customers and all our stakeholders. This short film captures the essence of our Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives:
