The Central Coir Research Institute of Coir Board, Alappuzha has designed and developed a fully automatic power loom (Anugraha Tejas), which was inaugurated by C.P. Radhakrishnan, Ex MP, Coir Board at Coir Complex, Kalavoor.
DPS Negi, the Secretary Coir Board, Board Members, Dr. Anita Das , Director RDTE, CCRI, Chairman & Members of the Federation of Indian Coir Exporters Association (FICEA), Representatives of the Coir Co – operative Societies, Small Scale Coir Industrialists, Machinery Manufacturers and Coir Workers were present on the occasion. The new loom is versatile and can produce 5-6 times more quantity of coir geotextiles of good quality and is also cost effective.
The loom can be procured by the new / young entrepreneurs under Coir Udyami Yojana, and Mudra banking system under self employment schemes. The Coir Geo Textiles are Eco friendly, Environmental friendly, Bio Degradable, natural, durable and cheapest when compared with other vegetable fibre products.
The quantity of export of the coir Geo textiles shows an increasing trend and this invention would fulfill the demand from within the Country and abroad. The Engineering Wing of CCRI has achieved the goal within a short span of time.
The Exporters have evinced keen interest on the new power loom for coir geotextiles . The co operative sector can also install the new loom in their units to increase production and thereby ensuring a good remuneration to the coir workers. Interested coir entrepreneurs may witness the performance of the new loom during the office hours at CCRI, Coir Board Complex, Kalavoor, Alapuzha.
