  • KTM Conclave Showcases Kerala’s Attractions in Destination Weddings

By NE Reporter on August 18, 2025

    KOCHI:
Kerala’s maiden Wedding and MICE conclave has vividly spotlighted the state’s promising appeal as a premier destination for weddings on a global scale.

This three-day extravaganza boasts an impressive exhibition, highlighting a diverse array of enchanting venues poised to host unforgettable wedding celebrations while attracting discerning tourists.

From serene backwaters to lush hill stations, the event showcases the unique charm and beauty of Kerala, inviting couples and event planners alike to explore the breathtaking possibilities for their special day.

Participants in the exhibition include representatives from large hotels, luxury resorts, and bridal service providers, who are presenting their offerings, background information, and innovative ideas tailored for destination weddings.

The natural beauty, stunning locations, excellent accommodation, diverse culinary options, and rich cultural heritage of Kerala enhance its appeal as a wedding destination where everyone wants to tie the nuptial knot.

Over 675 buyers from both India and abroad are attending the event in Kochi, which the Kerala Travel Mart Society organises in collaboration with the state government.

Prominent wedding companies are attracting attention through innovative marketing strategies, efficient logistics, and the use of technology.

“Kerala’s pristine beaches, heritage sites, and picturesque backwater getaways are being prominently featured,” an official said.

The hotels of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) are particularly popular among buyers at the exhibition.

KTDC highlighted the Bolgatty Palace Island Resort in Kochi as the “Prime Destination Wedding Property,” emphasising its architectural grandeur and natural beauty.

Popular KTDC properties include the beachfront Kovalam Samudra, Kumarakom Waterscapes, Kumarakom Gateway, and Munnar Tea County.

Alappuzha, Kumarakom, Kochi, Munnar, Wayanad, Kovalam, Varkala, and Poovar are recognised as the top destinations in Kerala for weddings.

Couples prioritise destinations based on factors such as availability, accommodation options, and ease of access.

Increasingly, people from other states and foreign countries choose Kerala for weddings, with many interested in adopting the state’s unique traditional customs and ceremonies.

“This trend has been on the rise for the past decade, typically involving the booking of hotels for several days to accommodate both hosts and guests,” the official said.

A hotel in Kochi that recently hosted a Jain wedding noted that they organise ceremonies for clients from various countries by creating tailored experiences and preparing cuisine that aligns with their customs and traditions.

There is a growing fascination with ceremonies that beautifully intertwine wedding traditions from diverse cultures with the rich heritage of Kerala.

These hybrid celebrations reflect a vibrant tapestry of customs and practices, showcasing the unique blend of values, colours, and rituals that each culture brings into the union.

An Alappuzha-based company highlighted the popularity of customising venues in any part of Kerala according to specific needs, indicating that the trend of choosing Kerala for destination weddings is indeed increasing.

A wedding planning company based in Nedumbassery is setting itself apart by offering sustainable and eco-friendly destination options.

They emphasise organising ceremonies that reflect the local climate and incorporate elements from festivals such as Onam, Vishu, Christmas, and Eid.
