  • KSUM-mentored Startup Launches Online Teaching Platform ZIXA

By NE Reporter on October 5, 2020

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Practical Learning and Effective Communication Solutions Pvt Ltd, registered under Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), has launched its indigenously developed online teaching platform for remote education ZIXA, which has all the features that make the distant learning a total experience.

The soft launch of ZIXA was held on earlier this week, complying with COVID protocols. Prof. Satheesh E K, Dean, Department of Commerce and Management, University of Calicut, inaugurated the function. The meeting was attended by Dr J Letha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Jain University, Riyas Mohamed, Director of Funding and International Linkages, KSUM, M Fasil, Assistant Manager, KSUM, Shibin John, Founder, ZIXA, and Fiona Mathews, Administrator, ZIXA.

A video conferencing software to conduct remote education as effective communication between educators and learners, ZIXA has affiliations with any national and international universities. Also, institutions using it can replicate themselves virtually on ZIXA.

The platform has everything an educational institution needs from conducting its day- to- day activities to managing human resources. The product was developed completely indigenously with a passion to support educational institutions in the COVID-19 situation.

ZIXA addresses the biggest challenge faced by institutions today – the student safety and data privacy. Since data on ZIXA are secured via encryption on cloud servers and is via encryption, they are safe from hackers and data theft.

It operates with the vision of boundless education where students are not limited by boundaries or the time and money required for earning degrees. On ZIXA, anyone can be a teacher, and anybody can be a student. It has affiliations with many national and international universities, whose courses are available on the platform. Students can choose, enrol, learn, and earn certificates easily through ZIXA.

In his inaugural note, Prof. Sateesh welcomed ZIXA as a Make in India initiative. Patting the team behind the application, he said ZIXA would help schools and colleges to use a completely Indian product, instead of heavily depending on foreign software like Zoom or Google Meet. Prof. Satheesh also launched ZIXA’s official website -www.zixa.world.

Dr Letha unveiled the animation video explaining how ZIXA works. This was followed by a Q&A session where the guests interacted with the developers. ZIXA’s development team expressed the hope that the product would influence the future of education and accelerate change and growth in teaching and learning.

The meeting concluded with the felicitation of Riyas Mohamed and M Fasil where they offered all the support for the success of the project.
