Thiruvananthapuram: The attempt by the Kollam District Collector to put all the blame on the police department for the fireworks disaster at Paravur Puttingal Devi Temple has taken a new turn with the State Police Chief T P Sen Kumar coming out against the move to make police a scapegoat in the case.
The DGP is reported to have registered his protest with the government.
This is in the wake of the recommendation made by the state home secretary to take action against Kollam City Police Commissioner, Assistant Police commissioner of Chathanoor and Circle Inspector of Paravur for their lapses in preventing the fireworks display.
This action by the Home Secretary has led to a fight between the IAS – IPS officers.
The argument of the Police department is that there were lapses on both sides and the move to corner the police on this account will only weaken the morale of the force.
