  • KMB Pavilion Inaugurated as Cultural Hub of Kochi-Muziris Biennale

By NE Reporter on December 23, 2025

    KOCHI:
The KMB Pavilion, described as the beating heart of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, was inaugurated on Monday, marking the opening of a dynamic new cultural space envisioned as a meeting point for contemporary art, public dialogue and the layered histories of Kochi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Aditi Nayar-Zacharias, Director of the Kerala Museum, reflected on the Biennale’s journey and its wider impact. “The event has transformed public engagement with art not only in Kerala but across the world.” Calling the Biennale a phenomenon to be proud of, she added that the team had the wholehearted support of the cultural community and audiences alike.

Dr Venu V, chairperson of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, Bose Krishnamachari, president of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Aswathy Gopalakrishnan, head of KBF’s editorial and communication, K J Sohan, former mayor and historian, and Mario D’Souza, director of programmes, were among those who took part in the inauguration.

Architecturally, the Pavilion is designed with an emphasis on simplicity and adaptability, enabling it to host talks, film screenings and performances throughout the Biennale. Beyond its physical form, it stands as a symbolic extension of the Biennale’s vision, a platform for artistic exchange, critical thought and cross-cultural conversations, where local narratives intersect with global perspectives and foster dialogue between artists, audiences and the city itself.
