All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial Debate Competition Finals on 27th September

KOCHI:
All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial Debate Competition is an annual event of XIME Kochi in memory of late Maria Philip daughter of the Principal Founder of XIME, Prof. J. Philip. Maria has been an inspiration to her father in establishing XIME. The Finals of this year’s competition is being held at Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME) campus at Kinfra Hi Tech Park, Kalamassery Kochi on 27 th September 2018.
The topic for the debate is: ‘India has not made adequate progress with regard to women’s rights’. The debate competition is organised at two levels: Zonal level and Finals. The zonal level competition will be held in three different zones: North, South and Central. The venues and the dates for the zonal level competitions are as follows:
1. North: Farook Institute of Management, Calicut – 25 September 2018 – 1.30 p.m.
2. South: Assumption College, Changanassery – 24 September 2018 – 10.30 a.m.
3. Central: BharatMatha College, Ernakulam – 26 September 2018 – 10.30 a.m.
Each team will be allowed eight minutes – four minutes to speak in favor and four minutes to speak against the given topic. There will be no inter-team or intra-team rebuttal. The registration for the competition involves no fees. It is important that the debate team of two members consist at least one girl in the team. Three winning teams from each zone will participate in the finals along with a team from XIME Kochi.
The prize distribution ceremony for the All Kerala Maria Philip Memorial debate competition will be held at Maria Philip Auditorium XIME Kochi on 27 September 2018 at 12.00 p.m. The Chief Guest of the ceremony will be Shyam Srinivasan, MD & CEO of The Federal Bank Ltd. P C Cyriac, IAS(Retd.),President XIME society will preside over the function and Prof J Philip, Principal Founder XIME and Chairman XIME Bangalore will deliver a special address.
