The eligible girls will receive a one-time grant of up to ₹ 50,000 to cover their wedding expenses. Additionally, the scheme offers counselling services and support to help the girls find suitable partners and adjust to married life.
Speaking about the grant, Sumanta Kar, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India, said, “We are grateful to the Social Justice Department, Government of Kerala, for their support in providing financial assistance for the marriage expenses of the nine girls at SOS Children’s Village Kochi. The scheme is an excellent initiative by the Government of Kerala, and we hope that more such initiatives are taken to support the welfare of vulnerable children in the country.”
The grant received by the village will be utilised towards supporting the marriage expenses of the eligible girls and ensuring they receive the necessary financial assistance for their future.
