BENGALURU:
In a shocking incident, Karnataka Lokayukta judge P Vishwanatha Shetty was stabbed inside his chamber on Wednesday afternoon.
Sources said judge Shetty was allegedly stabbed three times by one Tejas Sharma, an advocate from Tumkuru, according to the name entry at the Lokayukta entrance register.
Sources said, at 1.45 pm, the assailant entered his name, profession and location at the entrance register, following which he presented a visiting card to Shetty’s staff. Accordingly, the accused was called in by Shetty at around 2 pm. A moment later, the staff barged into the room hearing a scream. They found judge Shetty lying in a pool of blood.
The accused also tried to stab the staff member but he escaped and alerted others. However, later, he was apprehended and not allowed to escape and was handed over to the local police.
Justice Shetty has been shifted to Mallya Hospital in the city and his condition is said to be critical. A part of the knife which was used to stab him is still lodged inside his body, sources said.Dr Humera Sayeeba, medical administrator, Mallya Hospital, said, “His vitals are stable. We are still doing a CT Thorax Abdomen. Our general surgeon Dr Prakash Babu is treating him.”
