Joffre Mateu ‘Gaur of the Match’

There were positives to take away from FC Goa’s heartbreaking loss to FC Pune City at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium; Fatorda after a late Momar Ndoye strike silenced the home fans in the stadium. However, one of the brightest sparks for the home side was the performance of Spanish veteran Joffre Mateu.
The attacking midfield player ran his socks off against a tough tackling FC Pune City. He seemed the most likely Gaur to turn the match on its head after the teams were locked in an engaging draw at the half way mark. His incisive passing created numerous chances for the attackers. The midfielder was at
his influential best especially at the start after his incredible dribbling skill nearly got the home side a goal soon after kick off. Joffre is an important player for the team and he will look to get his team back to winning ways as the Gaurs get on the road for a run of three consecutive away game.
