KOCHI:
On the auspicious occasion of Vishu – the harvest festival and New Year celebrated in Kerala, Jet Airways, India’s premier, full-service international airline, will offer guests a feast on select flights from Kerala and the Gulf.
The menu specially curated by the airline’s chefs will be on offer to all guests, flying Premiere and Economy, from cities of Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Dammam, Muscat, Doha and Sharjah.
Guests travelling Premiere will have special dishes on offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For breakfast, guests can savour Vegetable Mappas, Kallappam, Ela Ada, Seasonal vegetables stewed in coconut milk, Savoury rice pancakes, Steamed rice cake stuffed with sweetened coconut, served with banana chips and chutney. For lunch and dinner, the menu would offer Avial, Mathanga Thoran, Chamba Rice; vegetables cooked with coconut milk, tempered with mustard seeds and curry leaves; Pumpkin stir-fried with coconut and spices; served with a parboiled red rice and pachadi. All the three meals would be topped off with Ada Pradhaman, classic dessert or traditional payasam of Kerala.
For guests travelling Economy from Kochi, the special menu would consist of Vegetable Mappas, Kallappam, Avial, Chamba Rice and Sambar. From Thiruvanathapuram, the menu would offer Kadala Curry, Idiappam, Avial, Chamba Rice and Erussery. Guests from Kozhikode can enjoy the special menu consisting of Avial, Chamba Rice and Matanga Thoran.
Celebrated on the first day of Medam or the Malayalam month, Vishu symbolizes the beginning of the spring season. The significance of the Vishu festival is that it marks the season of harvest and thus indicates prosperity. In keeping with Jet Airways’ “Guest First” philosophy, the Vishu spread will be a special in-flight dining initiative, allowing guests to participate in the annual festival while aboard their flights.
