GOA:
JCI MAPUSA observed Road Safety Week between 3rd to 9th February by conducting various impact-full projects.
Around 25 impact projects were organised some of which are :
We Care For You – In association with the Mapusa Traffic Cell, riders without a helmet were stopped and given a Rose & Booklet of Traffic Rules instead of a challan. The message given was “Today we give you a rose because you haven’t worn a helmet, but Tomorrow if something happens to you we may have to put a garland on you”. This campaign was conducted at the Gandhi Chowk which has a huge traffic inflow so as to create maximum impact.
A project called “Igniting Safer Minds” was also held along with a candle light rally. Here People come and share their stories of either how they met with an accident or shared experiences of their near ones. Another impactfull project was a Video Quiz, wherein people were asked to identify “Traffic Signals” in the Busy Friday Market. Those who answered correctly were given prizes.
Road Safety Pledge was given to over 3000 students in various schools of Mapusa. Various Competitions like Poster Making competitions, Slogan Making Competitions, Drawing & Painting, Quiz were also held. A walking rally was also conducted of 80 students promoting Road safety, in the Heart Of Mapusa, for the World Famous Friday Market. Flyers on traffic signs and Road safety rules were also distributed.
Radium stickers were also put up at dangerous places where things cant bee see at night and cause accidents, due to the construction of the flyover and widening of the road near Guirim cross. Road Safety Awareness talks were organised in G.S. Amonkar Vidyamandir and Saraswat Vidyalaya. PSI R.S. Mangueshkar also spoke to Parents of students of G.S. Amonkar Vidyamandir.
During the closing ceremony of Road Safety Week retired Asst. Director of Transport Servo Fernandes spoke to Students, Parents and Teachers from Holy Cross High School Bastora, Shree Bhagwati High School, Mandre High School, Saraswat Vidyalaya and G.S. Amonkar Vidyamandir. The people of Sirsaim alongwith Taxi Drivers and Rickshaw Drivers were also given a Safety Awareness Talk.
Shashwat Gupta Ray, Editor of Gomantak Times also addressed the audience and informed them about the ZAM (Zero Accidents Movement) Initiative. Zone President Santosh Dhekne, Zone Director Mallikarjun Kuknur and Zone Coordinator Abdul Sayed were also present alongwith Principal of GS Amonkar Vidyamandir Gayatri Shirsat.
JCI MAPUSA also conducted a Medical Camp in association with AYUSH for Taxi and Rickshaw Drivers and general public.
A Safety Bike Ride within Mapusa, Air Pressure Checkup, Speed Breaker Painting, Students Rally, Distribution of Pamphlets, Signature Campaign, Radium Taping, Black Dots, Cleaning of Road Signs and other such initiatives were taken by JCI Mapusa in association with the Mapusa Traffic Cell.
At the valedictory function the President of JCI Mapusa Eeshan Usapkar thanked all the schools, organization’s and establishments which have helped in conducting the Road Safety Week.
