With the dual objective of extending supply of auxiliary items to the health sector of different COVID affected areas in the country and in order to coordinate the business recovery in coir sector a Business Recovery Cell (BRC) has been created at Coir Board Head Office in Kochi as per the instructions of the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India.
The BRC made a call to coir fraternity to work in this direction and in response the industry has come out with creative coir products for COVID specific applications.
Knockdown “Coir Wood” Cot
The Central Coir Research Institute of the Board at Bangalore introduced a cot made of coir wood which can be assembled in one minute, without any nails and can be dismantled, which weighs approximately 28 Kgs and at factory cost of Rs.2800/-. Covid Special Coir Mattress
Pioneers engaged in the manufacture of Rubberised Coir products have come up to serve the Health Sector with low cost, durable, lightweight and disposable Mattresses using Coir and EPE foam in an effort to join hands with the Board to mitigate COVID – 19 pandemic in the country. The product is having ISI and ISO mark and covering options using Poly cotton fabric or waterproof resin. The product will be supplied pan India through the Coir Board Showrooms and Sales Depots.
Coir Board also propagates the message on ways to fight against Corona virus through its advertisements on the social media platform.
