An International conference on benthos ‘ICB19’ organised by Department of Marine Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry, CUSAT will be inaugurated at 9.30 am on 6th March at the Science Seminar Complex in the University’s main campus.
Dr. M Rajeevan, Secretary, central Ministry of Earth Sciences, the Chief Guest, will inaugurate the conference at a function presided over by Vice Chancellor, Prof R Sasidharan. Dr. P M Rajan Gurukkal, Vice Chairman KSHEC will be the guest of honour. Dr. Graham P Oliver from National Museum of Wales, U K will deliver the keynote address. Dr. M Sudhakar, Director, CMLRE, Dr. P K Abdul Azis, Former Vice Chancellor, CUSAT & Aligarh Muslim University, Dr. N Chandramohanakumar, Director, IUCMB, Dr. Aneykutty Joseph, Director, School of Marine Sciences, Dr. S Bijoy Nandan, Head of the department of Marine Biology, Microbiology & Biochemistry and Convenor of the Conference and Dr. Priyaja P, Organising Secretary will speak.
About 30 eminent academicians and scientists of prominent research institutes with international repute from abroad and India including Dr. David Checkley, Professor emeritus, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, USA, Dr. Graham P Oliver, National Museum of Wales, UK, Dr. Angel Borja, AZTI Marine Research Centre, Spain, Dr, Peter Ng Kee Lin, Head, Systematic and Ecology Laboratory, University of Singapore will deliver lectures and lead various sessions, besides other reputed scientists.
More than 400 researchers and students from national and international research centres will participate in the conference. As part of the International Conference, a MARINE SCIENCE EXPO will be held along the conference venue.
