NEW DELHI:
Priyesh Sharad, a student of New Delhi’s International Institute of Health Management Research, has won the prestigious “Friend of the Festival Award” at the International Festival of Public Health hosted by UK’s University of Manchester, becoming the youngest ever to do so at the annual international event.
Priyesh, who is also a research and data analyst for Social Consultancy Services for UNICEF in Uttar Pradesh, was chosen for the award for his ongoing work on ‘Social Behaviour Change and Communication’.
He made an oral and poster presentation of his paper at the festival which attracts high quality, significant abstracts highlighting the latest research on public health issues from across the world.
“It is a great honour to have spoken alongside experienced international professionals and having won this award for India,” said the 21-year-old. “This will be a big encouragement for all young public health professionals in our country.”
Participants included London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of Huddersfield, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Birmingham, University of Wolverhampton and University of Chester. Leading public health institutes such as Public Health Wales, Foundations, National Body for Home Improvement Agencies, DFG, LGA, NSPCC, PMH Special Interest Group and FPH also participated in the day-long festival.
