ALAPPUZHA:
The second phase of district campaign programme as part of India Skills Kerala 2020, jointly organized by the Industrial Training Department and Kerala Academy for Skill Excellence (KASE), the State Skill Development Mission under the Department of Labour and Skills, will kick off here on December 18.
Saji Cheriyan, MLA, will flag off the campaign, organized by ITI, Chengannur, to visit Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), schools and colleges in the district. The Industrial Training Department and KASE, under the Department of Labour and Skills, are conducting the campaign across Kerala to create awareness among youngsters and increase their representation in the World Skills 2021, to be held in Shanghai, China.
The number of competitions in the event has been increased to 42 this time, which include 20 academic skills and 22 specialized skills.
The District level competitions will be held from January 15 to 20, 2020. The Zonal events will be organized in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode from January 27 to 31. India Skills Kerala 2020 finale will be held at Swapna Nagari, Kozhikode from February 22 to 24.
The State level winners will make it to World Skills India 2020, and the national winners will get the opportunity to participate in World Skills 2021.
Age is the only eligibility criteria to compete in this skill competition. The competitions in Water Technology, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, and Information Networking Cabling are open to those born on or after 01.01.1996. For the remaining skills, candidates who are born on or after 01.01.1999 can compete.
Last date of registration is December 31. Spot registration facility is available at the campaign event. Registration can also be done in all government Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) for free of charge. Description of 42 skills and competition procedure are updated on the website.
