  • IESA Shows Interest to Associate with Maker Village

By NE Reporter on June 11, 2018

    KOCHI:
Impressed by the progress made by Maker Village in a short span of time, Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association ( IESA) has shown interest to provide mentorship and other forms of help to introduce the products of the companies incubated there into the market.
Extending the help further, it is also planning to open its branch office in Kerala, and most probably, it would opt for Kochi for the purpose, said Anilkumar Muniswamy, Chairman, Executive Council, IESA. Muniswamy indicated such a prospect after visiting Maker Village at Kinfra Park, Kalamassery along with other committee members on Wednesday.
“The biggest value we can bring to Maker Village is to take product of the companies from incubation stage to commercialization. We want to have a tie up with Maker Village and see that all these startup kind of companies will mature and their products are identified by the industry leaders so that, they get the right kind of funding for commercial purpose,” he said.
IESA is the premier trade body committed to the development of a vibrant Indian Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem.
On the occasion, he pointed out that Maker Village, with the support from the state government, is doing a tremendous job and the facilities offered are at par with the incubation labs in countries like Japan, Taiwan and Sweden which are big names in this arena.
“Here in Maker Village, from development to funding, everything is linked and the state government is committed to supporting the ecosystem. Besides, in terms of space allocation, this is the biggest I have ever seen when compared to the above mentioned countries,” Muniswamy pointed out.
Poornima Shenoy, Member, Executive Council, IESA said she has been to Maker Village thrice in 15 month. “I am amazed by the way things are going on in here. This is a great idea factory and many innovative products are coming up and that’s terrific. And the way the government is extending help is truly praiseworthy. Some of the companies incubated can move to the next level,” she noted.
Madhavan Nambiar, Chairman, Maker Village said the visit of the Executive Committee members would “really help us to understand what IESA can do and how the Maker Village incubatees can closely work with the Bengaluru hardware ecosystem to move to the next level.”
