  • Huddle Expo 2019 Displays Nature-friendly and Socially Impactful Products

By NE Reporter on October 3, 2019

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
SmartGro, a smart irrigation system that drips water adequately based on the nature of the soil and crops, and smart micro-organism removing bottles made of Nano-fibre membrane were among a slew of nature-friendly products that were on display at the Huddle Expo 2019, which concluded here on Saturday.

The two-day exhibition, one of the coveted events of Huddle Kerala 2019, was held at the picturesque private beaches of The Leela Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram.

Aimed at promoting tech startups, the event, attended by more than 20 startups, witnessed the display of various products that reflected sustainable goals. The expo brought together industry leaders and decision-makers and offered an ideal platform for the startups to promote their products and services.

A major highlight at the expo was SmartGro, a smart irrigation system that drips optimum water based on the nature of the soil and crops. The system comprises moisture sensors, controllers, watering kits, and a precise triggering mechanism that irrigates the farm based on the needs of respective crops, which, in turn, helps in preventing the wastage of water.

Lamaara’s smart bottle made of Nano-fibre membrane was another nature-friendly product that drew attention of visitors. The filter, using Nano technology, has a pore size of 0.2 microns, and can remove 99.99% of micro-organisms such as bacteria and protozoa.

Huddle Kerala Expo 2019 also showcased many initiatives of social impact. A digital arts academy for the hearing impaired Daad.io, cradled by those of the same community was one among them. The digital academy aspires to easen the challenges that the hearing impaired faces on educational platforms.

The expo also witnessed participation of startups focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT)-based products. One such product was NiX Road Intelligence which uses AI and IoT in predicting road accidents. It uses accident prediction models developed by various roadways entities to estimate the expected accident frequencies and to identify geometric, environmental and operational factors that are associated with the occurrence of accidents.

Smart switching modules, developed by IoE startup HASHh Automations, added variety to this year’s expo. Equipped with sensors and energy monitors, the module is remotely controllable. New Age digital banking platform Open also made an impressive presence at the expo. Open’s neo-banking platform offers everything from bulk payouts to automated accounting.

The expo was part of Huddle Kerala 2019 which is the focal point for tech startups and other relevant stakeholders of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, including the government, investors, mentors, and industry.

The event, inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, was packed with activities and several side-events like Leadership Talks, Tech talks, Fireside Chat, Beach Side Huddle, Speed Dating with Investors On Boat and Start Up Demo besides fun- filled activities.
