Honda Sales Cross 5 Million Mark in Record 10 Months

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) continues to outperform its 20% growth target for the fiscal and has created new records ending January, 2018.
Creating new record, Honda sales cross 5 million mark in April’17-Jan’18: For the first time in its 17 years of Indian operations, Honda’s two-wheeler sales have surpassed 5 million sales mark in just 10 months. Honda sold a total of 5,163,559 units in April 2017 to January 2018.
Backed by demand, scooter sales too grew 20% to cross 3 million mark (3,231,297 units) while motorcycles continue to vroom ahead with 23% growth over last fiscal. Paralelly, Honda’s exports grew by a phenomenal 27% – strengthening its position as India’s 3 rd largest two-wheeler exporter.
Honda 2Wheelers India sales up 33% in January’18:
Growing strong in the first month of 2018, Honda 2Wheelers total sales surged up by a solid 33% from 389,313 units sold in January’17 to 517,732 units sold in January’18. In the domestic front, scooter sales saw 40% sharp rise from 228,811 units in Jan’17 to 319,305 unit sales
in Jan’18. Motorcycles sales too grew 22% from 139,161 units in Jan’17 to 169,505 units in Jan’18.
Commenting on Honda’s performance in 2017 and reaction on the Budget 2018, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.said, “FY’2017-18 is already shaping up as a historic year for Honda. In just 10 months of this fiscal, Honda has added over 9 lac new customers and crossed 5 million sales mark in the shortest time.
The Government announcements in Budget 2018 too should accelerate rural demand. Withfirm thrust on rural economy is evident from increasing Kharif crop MSP to 1.5 times the production cost. The infrastructure focus of the government is very strong on rural areas and highways. With almost 50% of two-wheeler demand coming from rural and semi-urban India, Budget 2018shouldhave a positive impact on customer sentiments.”
