Committed to safety for everyone on roads, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. concluded the 31st National Road Safety Week (11 th – 17 th January 2020). Highlighting the theme Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha set by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Honda spread road safety awareness to over 1.2 lac people of all age groups in more than 260 cities across India in the week long road safety awareness drive.
Driving awareness on crucial subjects like traffic rules, road signs and necessary safety measures, Honda conducted road safety awareness activities at its 4 manufacturing plants, 17 zonal offices, 5 regional offices and 6,000+ touchpoints along with 14 Traffic Training Parks and 4 Safety Driving Education Centers.
Speaking on the initiative, Prabhu Nagaraj- Vice President, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Road Safety continues to reign as one of the most distressing concerns for our nation. While civic authorities are taking various measure to curb fatalities caused by road- accidents; as a responsible corporate in the mobility business, Honda recognizes its responsibility of spreading road safety message. With the active support of our network, we have spread the safety message to over 1.20 lac people during the 31 st National Road safety Week. In future too, we will continue to sensitize people across cities pan India.”
Key highlights of Honda’s week long road safety initiative:
– Promoting the road safety awareness, Honda spreads its Wings beyond 260+ cities across India from Chandigarh in North to Chennai in South and Siliguri in East to Ahmedabad in West.
– Safety 6! – Honda’s skilled safety instructors educated over 15,000 children & adults and 2,000+ learner license applicants traffic rule violators on the Top 6 Road Safety lessons (Use of Seat Belt while driving, importance of wearing a Helmet, Ill effects of drinking & driving, over-speeding and avoiding distracted driving). Additionally, 18,000+ school and college children & staff across 9 cities too learnt importance of road safety.
– Multiple engagements for all age groups: Honda conducted safety riding awareness rallies & walkathons in 28 cities including Kota, Jodhpur, Indore, Aurangabad, Pune etc. Honda’s biggest ever safety campaign also spread the message via safety banner displays at central locations of cities, safety quizes for customers, virtual riding simulator trainings for young adults and distribution of safety leaflets among public. Additionally, Honda’s safety volunteers gifted flowers to riders who were not wearing helmets in Ranchi.
Honda’s CSR commitment towards Road Safety promotion:
As a socially responsible corporate, Honda is actively contributing to spread road safety awareness and has made 33 lac Indians aware on road safety through its regular activities at traffic training parks & awareness camps in schools, colleges, corporates and societies.
Honda’s safety riding and training programmes are held daily at its 14 adopted traffic parks across India (2 in Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Trichy, Karnal and Thane). Honda also provides training to learner license applicants at its 4 traffic parks (Karnal, Bhubaneswar, Trichy & Coimbatore) and 4 safety driving education centres (Una, Ranchi, Khozikode & Vijayawada).
