HLL Lifecare Limited, a ‘mini’ Ratna PSU of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has opened an outlet of the Amrit Pharmacy at the Bhilai Steel Plant to provide life saving drugs and surgical disposables for a slew of life-threatening diseases like cancer and heart illnesses, and reliable implants at affordable prices.
Bhilai Steel Plant CEO M Ravi inaugurated the outlet at the SAIL’s Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital & Research Centre, in the presence of Dr. K. N. Thakur, Director in charge of the Hospital. This is the 114th outlet of the Amrit (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy chain in the country, and the first to be opened within the premises of a Public Sector Undertaking.
It is the second such pharmacy in Chhattisgarh state. As many as 52.49 lakh patients have benefitted from AMRIT Pharmacies as on January 15, 2018. The combined sale of drugs at all these pharmacies has been Rs 219.35 crores, against an MRP value of Rs. 486.55 crores, effectively saving patients a total of Rs 267.20 crores on costs.
