Hindlabs Opens Sunday Diabetic Clinic

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
HLL Lifecare Limited has opened a Sunday diabetic clinic at the Hindlabs Diagnostic Centre and Speciality Clinic functioning at the Trida Complex opposite Medical College.
The Sunday clinic that functions between 10am to 12 noon will provide doctor’s consultation and other services, including blood glucose tests, Glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) and creatine tests. The package is affordably priced at Rs 500.
Headed by Dr Dinesh Prabhu, the clinic offers screening tests for early detection of diabetes and also offers post diabetic tests for diabetic patients.
“Almost 80% of Keralites are either office employees or do business related work, leaving them free only on Sundays. Hindlabs considered the convenience it would bring to patients in starting this initiative,” said HLL CMD RP Khandelwal.
In Kerala, the rural-urban gap is not very prominent and diabetes can be found commonly in both sections of society.
“The development of the IT sector has increased the number of diabetic patients, due to a sedentary work styles and irregular eating habits,” said Dr Dinesh Prabhu, who formerly headed the first diabetic clinic of Directorate of Health Service, Govt. of Kerala. “The Sunday clinic is also aimed at this group of professionals.”

Almost 90% of diabetic patients are prone to other lifestyle ailments. Timely treatment and change in lifestyle can considerably reduce this risk. According to the survey conducted by International Diabetic Federation, 52% of people living in India are unaware that they are diabetic. The survey also points out that by 2030, the number of diabetic patients in India will increase from the current figure of 6.2 crore to 10 crore.
