THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
HLL Lifecare Limited (HLL) has provided the state government with much needed support in strengthening the infrastructure in healthcare, Kerala’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare K K Shailaja Teacher today said as she inaugurated the new HLL- Hindlabs’ MRI and CT Scan Centre at the Sree Avittom Thirunal (SAT) hospital at Medical College campus in the city today.
“We aim to develop self-sufficient, excellent and patient-friendly Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and medical colleges. Public-Private partnership has the potential to achieve government’s dream of healthcare for all in the state,” the Minister said. She lauded Hindlabs– an initiative of HLL, for the new MRI and CT Scan Centres at SAT which will provide diagnostic services at an affordable cost.
“This is Hindlabs’ fifth MRI and CT Scan Centre in the state and the 10th in the country. We have already established MRI Scan facilities at Kozhikode, Thrissur, Alappuzha and Kottayam,” said HLL CMD RP Khandelwal. He added that Hindlabs Scan Centres offer an attractive discount rate of up to 60 per cent and offer scans free of cost to 10% of BPL patients.
Khandelwal noted how HLL, through public-partnership models, has diversified from being a condom manufacturer into a healthcare delivery company.
“We provide quality diagnostic services at extremely affordable costs –starting from primary health centres to medical colleges in various states of India,” he added. “The MRI scanning units of Hindlabs have so far benefitted around two lakh patients. HLL is enduring its best to provide healthcare services at affordable cost.”
The new 3000 square feet Hindlabs centre, with an investment of Rs. 11.30 crores, is equipped with 1.5 Tesla MRI scan machines, and CT Scan, with 128 slices. It will provide essential diagnostic services to the patients of Medical College Hospital, SAT, Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) and other outpatients. These machines help in providing reliable test results in a comparatively shorter time.
“HLL has played a major role in the development of medical college hospital facilities since 2009. One third of the hospital’s development is contributed by HLL,” said Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Principal Dr Thomas Mathew.
“The new Hindlabs Scan Centres will be beneficial to the common people,” said Director of Medical Education, Dr Remla Beevi.
“When faced with an emergency, we had to take children in an ambulance to Medical College, which was time consuming and difficult especially with oxygen masks. The new lab will ease the transportation difficulty,” said SAT Hospital Superintendent Santhosh Kumar.
HLL Director (Technical and Operations), EA Subramanian, Medical College Superintendent Dr MS Sharmad, Radio Diagnosis HOD Dr N Roy, and former SAT Hospital Superintendent Dr V R Nandini were the other dignitaries present at the function.
Since 2009, HLL has established itself as a reliable brand in the field of quality diagnostic services at affordable cost through its diagnostic services division Hindlabs. The company has proven expertise in delivering quality and customer-friendly diagnostic services through public-partnership models.
HLL also runs a state-of-the art – Hindlabs Diagnostic Centre and Multi-specialty Clinic at the TRIDA Complex opposite to Govt. Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.
