Highlighting the motto of ‘Drug Free Kerala’, Group of Technology Companies (GTECH), the industry body of IT companies in Kerala, today launched the website of the 3rd edition of the GTECH Kerala Marathon at Technopark here.
Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd.), CEO of Technopark, unveiled the web portal of one of Kerala’s biggest sporting races, scheduled to be held on February 9, 2025. Registration is now open for the public through the website: www.gtechmarathon.com
Sreekumar V, GTECH Secretary and Centre Head, TATA Elxsi; Tony Joseph, Convenor, GTECH Community Outreach Focus Group; Rony Sebastian, Race Director, GTECH Marathon 2025, and Eapen Toni John, CEO, GTECH, were also present.
Noting that GTECH Kerala Marathon is a great initiative, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd.) said the event stands for a cause as well as it evokes a sense of belongingness.
“Apart from the drug-free motto, it is also meant for the message ‘stay healthy and stay happy’. The marathon will be a great experience for all since it will be bringing together runners from diverse backgrounds, institutions, regardless of age, geography, gender, or fitness levels,” the CEO added.
Sreekumar said around 7,500 participants are expected to join the race, which had its second edition at Infopark, Kochi with around 6,000 participants.
Tony Joseph said the registration for the event, which aims to sensitise the community to drug abuse, closes on January 25, 2025 and a 10 percent early bird discount is also applicable till November 30.
The marathon will be held in three categories– Half Marathon (21.1km), 10km, Fun Run (3km – 5km) – challenging participants to push their limits while supporting the cause of ‘No to Drugs’ campaign of the state government. The aim of the marathon is to create increased public awareness and make the state free of drug abuse and its harmful impact, especially among the youth.
GTECH has a membership base of 300-plus IT companies comprising of 80 percent of IT professionals in the state, totalling over 1.50 lakh. All leading IT companies in Kerala including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, IBS Software, UST, EY and Tata Elxsi are members of GTECH.
