KOCHI:
Emphasizing the importance of preserving the beauty of nature and sending signals against the perturbing situation prevailing, a nature photography exhibition opened at the venue of #Design Kerala Summit here on Monday.
Kochi-based branding institution Organic BPS, in concert with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), is conducting the Greenstorm expo at the six-day ‘Kochi Design Week’, at Bolgatty Convention Centre. Leading design luminaries, architects and decision-makers from around the world are attending the weeklong event that began on Monday.
Around 50 pictures, selected by noted photographer and filmmaker Martin Prakkat from more than 75,000 entries received by Greenstorm contests since 2009, are on display at the show.
Commenting on the choice of frames, Prakkat said, “Obviously, it was an arduous task to select 50 best works from over 75,000 photographs since each one spins a yarn. They will surely create a current of hope or anxiety among the spectators.” “The pictures depict emotional situations that directly converse to the human conscience.”
Dileep Narayanan, Managing Trustee, Greenstorm Foundation, said the organization was born out of the recognition that sustainable development becomes a reality only through harnessing each individual’s creative power. The Foundation aims at bringing about positives changes in the attitude of people using creative power.
The state government is organising India’s largest design festival seeking to leverage path-breaking design solutions in rebuilding the flood-ravaged Kerala. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address the Summit on December 12.
The event will be free for the public to experience the Design District and exhibition area at Bolgatty Island.
