THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The Corporation has announced a green protocol for the ‘Karkidaka vavu bali’ at the Thiruvallam Sree Parasuramaswami temple here. Consequently, there will be a blanket ban on plastic carry bags on the temple premises.
A meeting to review the arrangements chaired by Mayor V K Prasanth has asked the Health Department to undertake prompt cleaning of the temple premises before and after the conduct of the ritual. The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has been asked to ensure sufficient supply of drinking water for the devotees. The Health Department has been asked to clean up the temple premises, bali ritual venue and the stretch of the highway.
The Irrigation Department has been directed to clean up the canal nearby and ensure water flow. The two pump sets of the department will be repaired and put to use for the purpose. The KSEB has been asked to ensure proper street lighting. The temple has been asked to set up a public announcement facility to give directions to the devotees and make emergency announcements.
The police will maintain a tight vigil and coordinate vehicle parking and two privately-owned vacant spaces have been identified for the purpose. The health department will clean up the properties. The Fire Force Department and Inland Navigation Department will be asked to deploy their crew and equipment. The DMO will be asked to send a medical team.
The PWD has been instructed to clear the drains. The Mayor asked the departments concerned to present their follow-up actions at the next review meeting. Nemom MLA O Rajagopal, Health Standing Committee chairman K Sreekumar, councillors Nedumam V Mohanan, Krishnaveni and officers of various departments attended.
