Goan teams continued to showcase their fine display on day two of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championships in Mumbai. In the first match of the day in the junior boys category Our Lad
e in the 27th min with a splendid goal from Arsokini Syin. In the second half both teams went for the win in a highly open game. It was Vasim Inamdar who got the all important goal for the Goan team as they march forward in their quest for the finals.
In the second game of the day, Rosary Higher Secondary School won comfortably over Chaturdash Pai High School, Kolkata in the senior girl’s category with a margin of 2-0. Marlet Cardozo scored in the 25th min of the game from open play to give her team the lead. The girls from Goa continued to push for the second goal and got a deserved penalty in the second half. Shirley Fernandes converted from the penalty spot to secure the win.
In the college boys category Rosary Commerce and Arts College continued their fine display from day one. The Goan team went down fighting as they conceded a goal in the dying minutes of the game with Sachin Sivan of Nirmal College Kochi scoring in the 90th min.
