BENGALURU:
Kerala’s upcoming first ever Global IT Summit, #Future, will be a conglomeration of think tanks, influencers, successful entrepreneurs and an array of other stakeholders from the state and abroad, who will discuss measures to give a further impetus to its existing vibrant digital ecosystem, said Kris Gopalakrishnan, former CEO and co-Founder, Infosys.
To be held in Kochi on March 21-22, the high-profile event would “discuss, debate and brainstorm on how technology is influencing our life and businesses and what should be our responses so that we can take advantage of the positive changes that are taking place in the state,” he pointed out. Registration for the Summit has begun and can be done through www.towardsfuture.in.
Delivering the keynote address at a ramp up event for #Future here on Tuesday, Gopalakrishnan noted that looking back, especially during the last 30 years, a lot has been achieved in the computing domain with less knowledgeable people around. But that set off a technological innovation.
“We often tend to forget that this digital revolution is a recent phenomenon and in the coming years there will be such an unrivalled boom in the technological innovations that we will find ourselves in the middle of a knowledge era where everything will be driven by data alone,” he observed.
“As we are fast approaching there, this platform is of utmost importance to make use of the talents and resources we are bestowed with,” said Gopalakrishna who is also a member of the High Power IT Committee (HPIC) of the Kerala government.
He also urged social media network to encourage people to register and participate in the event and achieve the goals set out by the Global Summit.
A major objective of #Future, to be held at Le Meridien Hotel in Kochi, is to present Kerala’s technological capabilities, especially the way the government is leveraging technology for industrial advancement and bring perceptible changes in the lives of people. Over 30 speakers will share their experiences and expertise on transforming various sectors like health, education, banking, finance & retail, and travel & transportation through digital technology.
Speaking on the occasion, S D Shibulal, Chairman of the HPIC and co-founder of Infosys, dwelt upon the achievements of Kerala, especially its vibrant ecosystem for investments and entrepreneurship.
Realising the need to introduce certain changes in policy framework and provide better infrastructure for raising the bar, the state government has introduced a new IT policy, launched Kerala Fibre Optic Network ( K-Fon), and set up the Communication Information Institute of Kerala to enhance the skills of engineering teachers.
“But the most substantial initiative was to come up with a High Power IT Committee a year ago, which put forth various recommendations, the first one being the setting up of CM Fellow programmes,” he said.
A bunch of evangelists will be selected to work with the industry, and their responsibility would be to make it easier for the industries to come to Kerala, generate employment, create a platform to energize the digital eco-system in the state and attract both domestic and foreign investors.
Shibulal noted that the Global IT Summit is conceptualized to conduct once in two years.
Rajesh Nair, Member, HPIC, said #Future has been conceptualised not only as a technology conference but also as an event to look into the management and human aspects of digital innovations.
#Future will be attended by 2,000 professionals, entrepreneurs, academicians, key influencers and other stakeholders from across the globe. The event is powered by Sands Infra Build’s Sands Infinit and ISYX is the associate sponsor.
