    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    The 65th  Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of the Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway was held at Divisional Office under the  Chairmanship of Prakash Butani , Divisional Railway Manager.DSC_0010
    K S Jain , Addl. Divisional Railway Manager, V C Sudheesh , Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager and Secretary, Thiruvananthapuram DRUCC, and other Branch officers participated in the meeting along with the 15 DRUCC Members from the panel of  33 members.
    KS Jain,and Prakash Butani stressed the importance of the meeting and invited the members for active participation and suggestion to improve the service . They pointed out  that Division winning commercial and other trophies  in Southern Railway is the testimony to the earnest effort of the team to render better service to customers.
    V C Sudheesh, briefed about the improvements made in the recent past and activities of Thiruvananthapuram Division, to the members and said that the Division is focused on rendering better service to people. He also solicited suggestions/participation from the DRUCC members to further improve the services and rectifying the shortcomings.
    Thiruvananthapuram division has run 57 special trains in April 2016 and 88 trains in May till date, to clear extra rush of passengers. Taking cue from the effective parking and waiting room management, catering service management at selected railway stations  is  proposed to be entrusted to Kudumbasree on mutual consultation.  Jan Ahar , quality food at cheaper rate will be  made available at major stations . To improve hygiene and sanitation in trains, 26 trains of Thiruvananthapuram division will soon be provided with On Board Housekeeping Service (OBHS) where contracted staff will be travelling in train to clean them  at as and when required or when demanded by passengers through SMS. Free medical centers as in Thiruvananthapuram Central will be  started in other important stations. Major catering units are to start at Nagercoil Junction, Alappuzha, Aluva and Kayamkulam stations within this year. LED display units will be started in major stations before Onam. Suggestions for change in time table raised by the members  will be considered for implementation. The concerns raised by the DRUCC members over the  quality of catering will be addressed by  railway immediately.
