THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The free job training programme for women below-poverty line, launched by SMSS Hindu Mahila Mandiram as part of its empowerment initiatives during its centenary year, commenced here on Wednesday.
One of Kerala’s oldest women welfare and charity outfits, Hindu Mahila Mandiram is conducting the programme in association with Aerolinks Group of Companies, UAE, and India. Dr B Vijayalekshmi, Ward Councillor, Poojappura, inaugurated the 15-day programme at a function presided over by K.Y. Radhalekshmi, President, Mahila Mandiram.
Geetha Kaimal, Joint Secretary, Mahila Mandiram; G.M. Jalaja Kumari, Officer, All India Women’s Conference; Sajila Begum. A, Trainer; and Leena Jayakumar, General Manager, Aerolinks also attended.
Under the programme, hands-on training will be imparted in job-oriented skills such as stitching, production of cloth and paper bag, jewellery craft, lotion mixing and detergent and incense stick making. At the end of the programme, products under the brand name ‘Mahima Creations’ will be launched in the market. Dr Anil Pillai, CEO, Aerolinks Group of Companies, is sponsoring the training programme.
