As part of promoting greenery in Kerala, Fr Davis Chiramel Charitable Trust and Agrimyculture Producer Company Ltd (AMC) have decided to give Green Revolution Awards. The best Green panchayat in Kerala will be given Rs 5 lakh and Green Shield on Ist of Chingam next year. Schools, colleges, farmers, NGOs and social media groups can also register for the awards.
Those who register should have planted plants and trees at panchayat premises or on the side of roads thus creating greenery at such places. Data should be submitted in the format given the Agrimyculture Producer Company regarding fruit trees, medicinal plants, flowering plants and farms. An expert committee will examine the data and activities submitted by the organizations/institutions and select the winners.
The best panchayat will be given Rs 5 lakh and other Rs One lakh each and a consolation prize of Rs 50000 to a panchayat and Rs 10,000 for other categories. Entries for the registration should be sent to : care4greenkerala@gmail.com before November 1, 2021. The registration fee is Rs 1,000 for panchayats and Rs 100 for others.
The aim of AMC is to reduce the carbon level in the environment through the greenery projects. The award is constituted to promote such activities in the State of Kerala, said Agrimyculture Producer Co Ltd Chief Patron Fr Davis Chiramel. The farm which started at Kizhakkekara in Muvattupuzha is a model for green activities.
AMC Chairman Rajan P Thomas and Managing Director C V Jose said that these awards aims to make Kerala a green hub. The only way to achieve this is to protect nature, they added. These awards constituted for a period of 3 years offer a unique opportunity for panchayats by doubling the prize amount every year provided the same panchayat wins it consistently.
