MUMBAI:
FIS announced a contribution of 100,000 USD (about 75 lakhs rupees) to the #RebuildingLives campaign by American India Foundation (AIF) and NDTV. The amount will be donated through AIF, an organization committed to catalyzing social and economic change in India and building a lasting bridge between United States and India.
According to AIF, around 40 million migrant daily-waged workers have been hit hard by Covid-19 induced economic distress, lockdowns, travel bans and social distancing requirements. As they reach home, enduring unprecedented ordeals, they face the risk of hunger, indebtedness and prolonged unemployment. Their families face high infection risk, and their children particularly girls are staring losing basic education.
FIS is a committed organization and believes in giving back to the communities and to the people they work with. India is one of the important regions for operations (FIS has one third of its global 55000+ employees in India), and it’s a responsibility to give back to the community in such a pandemic situation. The company’s grant promise is to help business’ and communities to strike back to the situation, the guiding principles, values and statements of leads and be the change. It is crucial to be able to get the economies back open and that is another reason that makes FIS to contribute to this cause.
With the donation, FIS marks its dedication and commitment to the Indian community. The company has previously contributed over INR 2.4 crores to PM Cares Fund.
