Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Goa’s first tennis club along with Gadre Group has partnered with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) to organize the fifth edition of Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2020.
The annual state-level tournament will witness accomplished tennis players battle it out for the ultimate title on the blue courts of Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar, Goa. The state-level tournament will be held between 24th January to 2nd February 2020. Matches will be scheduled between 7.00 am and 10.00 am in the morning and between 4.00 pm and 10.00 pm in the evening. Prizes collectively amounting to INR 88,000 will be awarded to winners
The Veterans segment includes singles and doubles categories and will commence on the 24th of January with the finals slated for 26th January. The categories include Veteran Singles 45+, Veteran Singles 55+, Veteran Singles 60+, Veteran Doubles 90+ (Min age 35 yrs), Veteran Doubles 110 + (Min age 45 yrs) and Veteran Doubles 120+ (Min age 45 yrs).
Thereafter the tournament for the other categories commence on 27th January with the finals to be held on the 2nd of February. The tournament includes eight categories – Under 12 (Girls and Boys), Under 16 (Girls and Boys), Mixed Doubles, Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Ladies Singles.
The club has received over 100 entries so far with more coming in. The last date for receiving entries is 18th January for veterans and 20th January at 6.00 pm for other categories

Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias has an interesting legacy spanning over 75 years. In 1934, Mrs Josephine Hogaz, an American industrial magnate introduced the game of tennis in Goa. She also provided the finance for the making of the first tennis court in the Club premises. This game became popular with its members leading to the introduction of another court a few years later.
Over the past 80 years under the leadership of various individuals, the club has innovated and improved keeping in the mind the requirement of its members. The club offers facilities for playing badminton, squash, table tennis, billiards and tennis within its premises.
